Dairy-free yogurt parfait with strawberries, raspberries, granola and pumpkin seeds

Dairy-Free Yogurt Parfait

Are you ever stuck in a pattern of eating the same breakfast over and over? Because I do and it gets so boring! Lately, I have been changing up my breakfast to something I haven’t eaten in years… yogurt! I never was a big yogurt fan, but recently decided that if you top it with enough yummy ingredients, it actually is a delicious and satisfying breakfast. This Dairy-free Yogurt Parfait is both nutrient-dense and easy for breakfast.

Dairy-free yogurts are becoming more popular, but they are also usually packed full of other nasty ingredients and chalked full of sugar. The one I like best right now is Kite Hill. It has minimal ingredients and if you buy the plain, unsweetened one- it doesn’t have any sugar! I am not saying that their other yogurts with sugar are bad, but I like to be in control of how much sugar I add to my meals in the morning.

Another tip about dairy-free yogurts (especially if you are doing a Whole30) is to read the labels. Companies are constantly changing their ingredients to make products cheaper. This is especially true in these types of products. If one changes their label, don’t be afraid to try another to find one that you like and fits your needs the best.

To make this Dairy-free Yogurt Parfait I added some strawberries and raspberries, which have been great this time of year! I also added pumpkin seeds, which are full of magnesium and iron. I also topped it with some Paleo granola, which is where some extra sweetness comes in! If you want some extra sweetness (because this yogurt can be very tart by itself) you can always add some honey too. I think with fruit and granola there is plenty of sweetness for me, though!

Tips for Dairy-Free Yogurt Parfait:

  1. Add any ingredients you like on top of this! Coconut shavings, almonds, and nut butter are all some of my favorite.
  2. This doesn’t have to be dairy-free if you don’t want it to! This recipe works for all yogurts that fit your lifestyle.
  3. I use Kite Hill unsweetened, plain yogurt, which is Whole30 compatible. Be sure you are looking for the unsweetened one if you are doing a Whole30, like I mentioned the rest of them have sugar.
  4. I really love Paleo granola, but you can use your favorite granola. Autumn’s Gold is my favorite and is a great price at Costco.
