Lemon Harissa Chicken Wings

If you’re looking for a flavorful and spicy twist on traditional chicken wings, look no further than this Lemon Harissa Chicken Wing recipe. Harissa is a North African spice blend made from roasted chili peppers, garlic, and other spices, and it gives these chicken wings a fiery kick. The addition of lemon adds a bright and refreshing flavor to balance out the heat. These wings are perfect for a game day snack or a casual dinner with friends. So fire up the grill and get ready to impress your taste buds with this delicious and easy-to-make recipe!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Chicken wings: I like to get mine from Rastelli’s Butcher.

Harissa Paste: This is a spicy pepper blend. You can find it at most stores, but I get mine at Trader Joe’s.

Lemon Juice: one whole lemon juiced

Olive Oil

Seasonings: Garlic powder, salt and pepper

Instructions

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Pat the chicken wings dry– this is very important. Season them with salt and pepper.

Combine other ingredients to create the wing sauce.

Coat the wings with the harissa sauce on both sides.

Grill the wings until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

Serving Tips: I love servings these with a tzatziki sauce, whether that be dairy-free or not. One I love most is Cava’s (not dairy-free) and you can find it at Whole Foods.

Troubleshooting: Start slow with the harissa sauce, as it can be spicy. I do one coat and then add more after if needed.

Scaling tips: You can always make more wings, just be sure to double or triple the sauce.

Recipe Variations

This recipe is Whole30 compatible, however you can use your favorite tzatziki sauce that can be dairy-free or not dairy-free. Be sure to check all your ingredients on the harissa paste to make sure they are Whole30 compatible if you are doing a Whole30.

Storage Tips

These wings can be stored in an air tight container for up to 5 days, however they may lose their crispness. Reheat them in the oven or air fryer to make them crispy again.
