Broccoli salad is one of those dishes that can go from really healthy to really unhealthy so quickly. Don’t get me wrong, the cheesy, creamy, sugary broccoli salad is delicious, BUT why not get the most out of your side dishes without sacrificing flavor? This is dairy free, sugar free and still has all the flavor of a typical broccoli salad. I promise it will be such a crowd pleaser at your next summer BBQ.
One thing people struggle the most with their food freedom during the summer is all the BBQ’s, summer gatherings and delicious food and drinks that tend to constantly be around. On one hand this is what makes summer time so great, but on the other, this can be a scary time if you are practicing your food freedom and don’t want to lose control. There are so many unknowns in these situations with foods that you don’t have control over. My one tip for these situations is ALWAYS bring a dish that you can turn to if all else fails. One that has none of your triggers and one that everyone else can enjoy too. Plan ahead for these situations and you will be a pro in your own food freedom all summer long.
This dairy-free broccoli salad is a perfect dish for these exact situations!
Tips for this recipe:
- make ahead and let it sit! It gets better overnight.
- Chop everything and dress it later if you are going to a party later in the week or want it all week for lunch.
- Add bacon if you love bacon… it is really tasty!
